Kyrie 3 “White Chrome” Performance Review

I really don’t know how to start this.

I love this pair. I really do. Not a go to shoe compared to my Dame 3 or my J Wall 2 but it gets the job done. Certainly not the most comfortable pair of shoes I’ve hooped in but certainly not the worst *cough* Lebron 13 *cough*.

Let’s get started on the review:

TRACTION:

Certainly the BEST feature of this pair.

Traction pods are placed on both sides of the forefoot area and the rest of the outsole features a blade pattern.

Minimal wiping is needed. No slipping whatsoever even if the court I played in was dusty.

I don’t do crossovers that much. I play PF-C most of the time but I never experienced any type of slipping while running or those sudden stops.

Traction: 9/10

CUSHIONING:

A Zoom unit is placed in the heel area of the shoes for impact protection and phylon for the rest of the midsole for court feel.

The phylon does its job giving you that court feel when you play. The Zoom unit, however, isn’t really felt. It isn’t that responsive. I don’t know if I have to break it in more but based on all the reviews I’ve read about this pair, it’s all the same. I mean, it isn’t that stiff to make your feet hurt because I had a good time hooping in them.

Cushioning: 7/10

MATERIALS:

The upper features a reinforced mesh with fuse in the toe box for a bit more durability. The back end of the shoes features a spike-like design which doesn’t really do anything to make the shoe any better.

The materials on this pair are, OKAY. Nothing spectacular or amazing. It’s soft and isn’t stiff to hinder movement while playing.

Materials: 7/10

FIT/LOCKDOWN/LACING/SUPPORT:

The forefoot area features a Flywire lacing setup for a better lockdown while using this pair and does it get the job done? It does and it really feels locked down. Don’t tighten it up too much or you might feel a bit uncomfortable.

As for the fit, just go TTS (true-to-size). Before buying shoes (especially online), try them out in stores first to know your exact size. It’s a very narrow pair just so you guys know.

Support is great. The Flywire helps lockdown your feet along with the internal TPU heel counter effectively.

VENTILATION:

It doesn’t get hot. I never had an issue where my feet got too hot and sweaty while I was playing. The upper doesn’t look like it’s breathable since it has fuse and plastic reinforced mesh, but it actually is.

Ventilation: 8/10

OVERALL:

I’ve said before that the Dame 3 was my go-to shoe, but as of now I’ve played more in this pair than the other and I can proudly say that this is my go-to shoes now.

It’s a solid hoop shoe. Traction is great, the cushioning is decent, materials are awesome. If you were to look for a nice pair of point guard shoes, get this. But if you aren’t fond of stiff cushioning setups, don’t get this coz you’re going to have an unpleasant time.

Overall: 8/10

Dame 3 “USA” Performance Review

Very impressive.

For a low cost performance shoe, this pair totally dominates any other budget kicks out there and could even compete with big budget shoes.

I don’t even know how Adidas can make a pair this awesome and keep it at that price. The traction, cushioning, materials, etc. are so great that it actually makes you think that it’s worth more than that and even if they upped the price, you’d still be willing to buy it.

Imma start this off with the:

TRACTION:

It features a multi-directional traction pattern. Whether you’re going left or right, sudden stops, driving to the basket, whatever direction you go, this will grip the floor well. I had no slipping whatsoever, minimal wiping was needed (that or our court was surprisingly clean). Outsole is thick enough to be used outdoors but don’t expect it to last extremely long.

Traction: 8.5/10

CUSHIONING:

Bounce all day.

I have boost and boost is GREAT. But bounce is on a whole different level.

This pair features a dual density type of bounce. The midsole carrier cage and the main midsole.

It provides comfort, responsiveness, great court feel, and impact protection was above par and it was really stable. It didn’t take long to break in the cushioning, two games and it was already awesome.

Cushioning: 8.5/10

LACING/FIT/SUPPORT:

The DAME 3 features a one piece booty for its body. No more irritating tongue that you have to keep on adjusting every now and then. This will stay in place no matter what.

For the fit, go TTS (true to size). I went TTS and I had no problem with it. At first my heel was sliding in and out of the shoes but not sliding out entirely. I just had to adjust the lacing to fit my feet better.

This pair features a fully customizable lacing setup. There are so many ways of fixing the lacing of your shoes for a better fit or lockdown.

Support will only be good/great if you have the proper fit, and this is phenomenal. The lacing setup, whether it’s the default style or your own, it will provide a great lockdown and the midsole carrier actually helps in securing your feet while you’re playing, plus the internal TPU heel counter. It may not look like much but the support on this pair is beastly.

The sides of the shoes where you put your laces in wraps around your feet like a burrito.

Lacing/Fit/Support: 9/10

MATERIALS:

It’s nothing spectacular but don’t get me wrong, this is way better than what the other pairs have out there.

This features a mesh upper that’s reinforced with plastic and fuse for durability. Your movement wouldn’t be hindered as well because it is super flexible as well.

Ventilation isn’t bad at all. My feet weren’t getting sweaty nor did it feel hot.

MATERIALS: 8/10

OVERALL:

The Dame 3 is now one of my go-to pair of kicks. It’s reliable and is actually comfortable and it doesn’t hurt your feet even after how many games. If you’re having second thoughts on whether to cop this pair or not, just cop it. You won’t regret it at all. Not one bit.

OVERALL SCORE: 9/10

Adidas already released the DAME 4 and I have yet to try it out and review it. Hopefully I get the chance sometime soon.

Dame 3 “USA” initial thoughts

What time is it?

It’s Lillard time.

A low-cost/budget pair of sneakers that performs just as well, if not better, than high end basketball shoes out there on the market. That’s just based on all the reviews I’ve seen and read.

I haven’t had the chance to compare it to the previous models since I ain’t got them. I was supposed to get the Lillard 1 a few years back but decided to pass on em.

No doubt this will be a beast on court. NO DOUBTS AT ALL.

Traction looks hella great. Tried it on and the Bounce cushioning feels great (I haven’t even tried breaking them in yet). Materials feels amazing but too soon for me to say anything, hopefully the ventilation isn’t crappy. Support seems decent, hard to say. But it’s the lacing system that I’m super excited to play around with, I’m not sticking with the factory lacing style forever, I’m gonna change it up eventually.

“The adidas D Lillard 3 debuted in 2016 as the third signature sneaker for Portland Trailblazers all-star point guard Damian Lillard. The sneaker featured a customizable lacing system, a TPU-coated fused mesh upper, a TechFit inner bootie, a Bounce midsole, and an outsole pattern inspired by Lillard’s childhood.”

I’m actually more excited to try this on more than the Kyrie 3. Let’s hope it lives up to it’s hype.

LOUD BASSTARD

NOT. A. SPEAKER.

Well, in a way, it is. It’s more of an amplifier. Imagine playing songs on your phone and putting it inside a mug or a cup to amplify the sound, except 100x BETTER.

We didn’t actually buy this. It was actually given to us during a trip hosted by Ford and Bambike (if you guys want to know what we did during that day, click here).

Personally, I don’t always use the Loud Basstard. Why? Whenever I play songs on my phone, I usually use it at the same time to play games, go on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other stuff I usually do on my phone. The Loud Basstard requires you to put your phone in the slot and leave it there the entire time. It’s good for people who aren’t on their phones almost 100% of the time.

Quality-wise, it doesn’t sound like you put your phone in a tin can to amplify the sound. It sounds good. Not great but not bad at all.

Love it. Like it. Hate it. To each his own. I just LIKE it. That’s it. Nothing too special about it.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments section down below!

Logitech X50 Speakers

Small.

Portable.

LOUD.

Yes. It is really loud. It fits in the palm of your hands and yet it can compete with the loudness and strength of bigger speakers.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Wireless connection: (Bluetooth)
  • Rechargeable battery: Can last for 5 hours without recharging.
  • Auxiliary input: Can connect a 3.5mm audio cable.
  • Multi-device speaker: Can be used on various gadgets (Smartphones, Tablets, etc.)

It also comes with a charging cable (micro USB) and of course, the manual.

Also, the bottom part of the speakers features a non-slip type of rubber. This is great especially if you’re playing songs that are bass heavy (E.D.M. type of songs) and you don’t want it suddenly falling of the table unexpectedly because we all know that has happened to each and every one of us. Don’t you dare deny it.

Not much to say anymore except that this is a great companion during road trips, outings, hotel staycations, or even if you’re just at home and chilling.

If you’re looking for portable speakers, please do add this to your list because you won’t be disappointed.

D’Rose 6 First Impressions

The D’Rose 6. Man. A lot of things are going through my mind right now. It’s like a 50/50 for me.

Honestly, aesthetically, it’s a no for me. I mean come on Adidas! You can do better than that! Right? The straps for the better fit and heel lockdown? I honestly don’t know. I think I dig it but at the same time, I also don’t.

Performance wise? The D’Rose 5 was great. I should know. If you wanna check that out, check it out here. Going back, the D’Rose 6 won’t fail to impress. Performance wise that is.

“The adidas D Rose 6 Boost, featuring forefoot and heel boost for maximum energy return and comfort.

The D Rose 6 has a bold, rugged FITFRAME heel cage and straps that are constructed to deliver an adaptive fit and represent Derrickā€™s countless hours spent in the gym. A herringbone traction pattern, inspired by woodgrain textures and design, adds optimum grip for drives to the basket.”
Check out the pics here:

Look at that amount of boost! That better improve the performance of players who buy this pair! Full length boost is the way to go!

I’m still hesitant on buying the 6. Why? I still need to wait for reviews from either KickGenius or Jacques Slade. I could also just wait for it to go on sale like what I did with the 5.

What do you guys think about the D’Rose 6? Some of you guys might even have it already. If you do, let me know what you think of it by hitting up comment section below!

If I get my hands on the 6 anytime soon, expect a review.
(I’ve seen the D’Rose 6 review of KickGenius, and I’m kinda starting to like it, but still not enough to buy a pair.)

D Rose 5 “Bad Dreams” SNEAKER REVIEW

I’m a bit late. I know. The “Bad Dreams” Collection by Adidas was released in December last year (2014).

The “Bad Dreams” Collection by Adidas was released last December 12, 2014. The shoes included in this collection are the D Rose 5, J Wall 1, Crazylight Boost, and the Crazy 8 II. Each shoe has the same gimmick. It glows in the dark. Yep, it glows in the dark. Not really a big factor to the shoes since you wouldn’t be playing in the dark.

To some of you who have already read reviews of the D Rose 5, this is for those who have not yet seen the reviews and want a nice pair of kicks to ball with.

On to the review.

Here’s the top view of the box. Nothing special. Just the traditional 3 stripes and Rose’s logo.

The flap is just plain black, but the body of the box has a crimson and bright red color.

Side of the box containing the details of the shoes. I’m a size 11, but I had to choose a bigger size since the size 11 was too fit on my feet that it was already uncomfortable.

When you open the box, the shoes are covered in plain black paper.

When you finally remove the shoes from the box, this is what it looks like.

The shoes’ fabric cannot be washed or brushed ’cause it might damage the material.

For the design, it has these thin white stripes that run in different directions. The base fabric has a bluish color that is somewhat close to gray. The texture is pretty smooth and not rough.

The laces have this simple black and white design with a zigzag pattern and red aglets. It’s not too thick to bother the player while playing and not too thin that it won’t tighten as much.

At the base of the tongue, Rose’s jersey number,1, is shown.

Behind the tongue, there’s this design with roman numerals. I honestly don’t know what that stands for but it does look cool.

The logo of Rose has been molded on to the back of the shoes.

PERFORMANCE:

1. Traction:

The traction is great. I’ve only tried this once indoor and it was wonderful. No slipping whatsoever. Just don’t get it too dusty, but if you do, just wipe it off and you’ll be good to go!

The sole is composed of three components for the heel, mid, and forefoot.

The heel has a 3 stripe design with the middle stripe having tiny squares and the other two stripes also having tiny squares but in a downward design. The forefoot has a wavy pattern while the mid area has a diamond shaped pattern; The different patterns on the sole of the shoes help the player move better in different directions.

2. Support:

When it comes to support, I always want something that can help in protecting my ankles. The D Rose 5 helps protect my ankles and not reduce the movement when I’m switching directions.

The inner part of the shoe has this small cushioning for your ankles that gives you a bit of comfort while playing.

The heel lockdown provides enough security for your heel when running and doesn’t hinder your movement when changing directions unlike the Nike Hyperdunk 2015 where the heel lockdown is too stiff and hard that it’s already too uncomfortable.

For the fit of the shoe, well, it’s great. Not too tight. Just right. It’s the right kind of tight that the shoe is still responsive when moving.

Also, as seen in the previous picture, you could see a black x-like support underneath the translucent soles. That is the torsion system. What does it do? Well, according to complex.com, this is what it does:

-“A thermoplastic arch support designed to allow the forefoot and rearfoot to move independently and adapt to running surfaces without straining the foot through excess motion. Torsion excels by allowing the midfoot to naturally adjust to the ground and offering high levels of support and stability which are suitable for a range of sports.

How does it work? Think of the Torsion System as a lightweight bridge between the forefoot and heel. By supporting the midfoot, Torsion System serves as a platform which helps to combat improper flexing of the arch. This is beneficial for protection, fit, and control during strides and movements. The result is a smooth heel-to-toe transition.”

True enough, it does have a smooth heel-to-toe transition.

3. Cushioning:

 BOOST. THE BOOST IS EXCELLENT.

The whole sole of the shoe has the full length Adidas boost or also know as the TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane).

The boost technology provides comfort and responsiveness while playing. During the time I used this, I could really feel the boost working because I could feel my feet being pushed forward either while running or jumping. The boost foam also softens the landing of your feet when coming from a rebound or anything that involves jumping.

4. VENTILATION:

Not the worst but certainly not the best. My Adidas Crazy Fast 2 has better ventilation than this. Seriously. They could have done a better job on giving this more ventilation without sacrificing the looks or the performance.

OVERALL:

This is a great shoe. A really great shoe. I do recommend picking up a D Rose 5, especially now that the D Rose 6 is coming out and that would mean that the Rose 5 would become much cheaper. For those having second thoughts about this shoe, I hope this helps you in making a decision.

Thanks to soleshift.com for helping me review this pair of kick. Without your spot on review, I wouldn’t have known some of the details about this pair.

If you guys want to wear this when going out and are having second thoughts, check out my previous post

You guys could cop this pair at the NBA Store at Glorietta 4 or at the newly opened NBA Store at SM Megamall.

Review of the Belkin Pure AV 006 Earphones

I don’t really like headphones or headsets (I only have 2 headphones at home and I only use them when I do not want to be disturbed). I don’t hate headphones, don’t get me wrong, they’re just bulky, and sometimes, quite a bit annoying to carry around your neck when not in use. I prefer earphones better, you can just stuff them in your pocket when they’re not being used.

Just yesterday, I broke my Apple earpods, unfortunately (may they rest in “pieces”). I was forced to use my headphones again, which took up so much space in my bag that I was forced to hang it around my neck.

It hasn’t even been a day since I broke my earpods, and whad’ya know! My parents went to a sale event (where they sold iPhone cases, accessories, powerbanks, gadgets, and other items), and got me this!

It’s the Belkin Pure AV 006 earphones!

“Extra bass…” -That alone is enough reason for anyone to pick this bad boy up. “…for movies and games.” And “Music”, but that’s given already.

It only comes with the earphones itself, and extra silicone soft tips for you to interchange if you want a different size to fit your ears better.

Large and small silicone soft tips for a better fit.

The sound is so clear and crisp, even the bass was great. If you need to answer a call, it also has a microphone built in. Hassle free right?

Looks like I don’t need to look for any other pair of earphones anymore! I suggest that you grab this one as well, you won’t be disappointed. I promise.

The price is so affordable as well! It’s only $14.52  (based on Amazon) or P654 converted! Go and buy already! Get one for yourself!
